New Video of The Bathrobe Millionaire

by bathrobemillionaire on November 2, 2011

My publisher generously offered to create and post a video of me on their site and a few other sites.  Unfortunately they cut out the funny stuff (me on the elliptical machine in a bathrobe, sitting in a hot-tub in a bathrobe and wearing a suit over a bathrobe) but hey, their job is to sell books, not laughs.  Anyway, please view this video on YouTube and like it up!

Be an A Minus Player

by bathrobemillionaire on October 19, 2011

Back in high school, I picked up on something important.  For purposes of calculating students’ grade point averages, an “A-“ counted the same as an “A” (or an “A+” for that matter.)  I always strove to get good enough grades to keep my parents off my back, so I decided to strive for A minuses.  The reason is that, at least for me, I could usually achieve an A- simply by coming to class on most days, whereas achieving an actual A took significantly more effort, usually required doing something I despised (cracking a textbook) and forced me to spend countless hours thinking about school.

How does this notion of “strive for good enough” apply to the real world?  Let’s look at two well-known achievers:  [click to continue…]

Is Unemployment Really YOUR Fault?

October 8, 2011

This past week, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain made this comment about the unemployed , “Don’t blame Wall Street. Don’t blame the big banks. If you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself.” Frankly, I think Mr. Cain could use a few classes at charm school but I do agree with one [...]

Should You Reinvest in Your Business?

September 7, 2011

During the boom times, I knew a number of people who were in similar online lead generation businesses as I was, generating leads for real estate agents, mortgage brokers and people in related fields.  Feeling that the “right” way to run a business is to invest both time and money into it, they did just [...]

The Secret to Becoming a Decisive Person

August 25, 2011

Most people know me as a very decisive person.  Whether it’s choosing an item off a menu or making a decision about a $100,000 acquisition, I can usually decide in a few minutes, or least rule out a positive decision in a few minutes.  This was not always the case.  In the old days, I [...]

A New Definition of Insanity

July 28, 2011

Most of us have heard that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result.  True enough.  But I want to add a new definition: in·san·i·ty/inˈsanitē/Noun: Doing the same thing as everyone else and expecting a good result.   There are thousands (probably hundreds of [...]

Take Your Medicine Regarding Bad Situations

July 21, 2011

I spoke to a guy recently about helping him sell his website.  He bought it in mid 2008 (i.e. before the Great Recession hit) and paid a quarter million bucks cash.  Almost immediately after completing the purchase, the employees of the business demanded a raise from the new owner (that he was not equipped to [...]

Negotiate the Big Stuff

July 19, 2011

When observing friends and family members, a strange pattern seems to emerge in regards to saving money.  They often negotiate hard for the little things, but completely fold when it comes to big stuff.  For example, I have seen people who will argue over a $10 bill at a restaurant, but do not make a [...]

The Story of a Winner and a Loser

July 12, 2011

I want to describe two recent encounters I had, one with a winner, one with a loser. The winner sent me a message to thank me for my book.  He said it was motivational to him and that after reading it he started a campaign that is earning him about $1,000 day with PPV  (pay [...]
